Bring a Pillow, Make a Difference
Everyone registered to play is asked to consider bringing a new bed pillow, still in its original wrapping, as a donation to Faith House. It’s a simple way to help make the shelter a little more comfortable for the survivors and children who stay there.
About Faith House of Acadiana
Since 1980, Faith House has provided safety, shelter, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Based in Lafayette, the nonprofit serves seven parishes: Lafayette, Vermilion, Acadia, St. Landry, Evangeline, Rapides, and Avoyelles. Its services include a 45-bed emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, transitional housing support, community education programs, and an on-site shelter for pets so survivors don’t have to leave them behind.
Faith House also operates the Family Justice Center of Acadiana, where survivors can meet with advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, and legal and counseling services all under one roof.
The need is significant. Faith House reports that demand for shelter exceeds its current capacity, and it turns away nearly 700 women each year because of a lack of space. Community fundraisers like this Mah Jongg tournament help close that gap. To learn more or donate directly, visit faithhouseacadiana.com.
