A Lifetime of Service, Perseverance, and Legal Excellence
For decades, Glenn J. Armentor has been a driving force for justice in Louisiana. In 2024, his career was recognized with one of the state’s highest legal honors: the Louisiana Bar Foundation’s Distinguished Attorney Award. While the accolade celebrates his professional achievements, it also shines a light on a life story defined by resilience, generosity, and a steadfast commitment to his community.
The Honor and Its Significance
The Louisiana Bar Foundation bestows the Distinguished Attorney Award to lawyers who embody integrity, leadership, and exceptional service to the profession. For Armentor, the award is not just a recognition of courtroom victories but also of his tireless work outside of it. At the Foundation’s 39th Annual Gala, colleagues and friends celebrated his career as one that has elevated the practice of law while inspiring the next generation of attorneys.
“In recognizing Glenn J. Armentor as Distinguished Attorney, we honor a lawyer who has done more than litigate — he has uplifted communities, mentored young attorneys, and proven that the law can be a tool for fairness and hope.”
From Humble Beginnings
Armentor’s journey began far from the halls of justice. Growing up as one of ten children in a family with limited means, he often recalls being “the poorest kid in Lafayette.” His parents spoke little English, and the family relied on grit, sacrifice, and the kindness of others to get by. Those early challenges instilled in him a deep empathy for people facing hardships — an empathy that would later become the foundation of his legal career.
Determined to build a better future, Armentor worked his way through school, taking on difficult jobs to fund his education. That perseverance carried him to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned a political science degree in 1974, and later to the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1977.
Building a Career in Law
After graduating, Armentor launched his own practice dedicated to representing individuals who had been wronged by powerful interests. Over the decades, his firm became known for its relentless advocacy in personal injury cases, including offshore rig accidents, trucking and automotive catastrophes, medical malpractice, product liability, toxic torts, and more.
Beyond the courtroom, Armentor has been deeply involved in professional organizations. He has served in leadership roles within the Lafayette Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice, and has been a longtime member of both the American Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. His peers consistently recognize him as a leader who balances professional excellence with integrity and humility.
Service Beyond the Law
Armentor’s influence extends well beyond legal practice. Motivated by his own upbringing, he created the Pay-It-Forward Scholarship Program, awarding scholarships to high school students who have faced adversity but show great promise. Since its inception, the program has changed the lives of dozens of young people by helping them pursue higher education and brighter futures.
His civic contributions include decades of support for youth organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana and local amateur boxing programs that give at-risk youth opportunities for discipline and growth. Armentor has also served on multiple boards, including the LSU Board of Supervisors, where his voice continues to shape the future of education in Louisiana.
A Life of Impact
Armentor’s story is one of contrasts — from humble beginnings to statewide recognition; from financial struggle to philanthropic leadership. Yet through all his accomplishments, he has remained grounded in his belief that success means little unless it is used to uplift others.
The Distinguished Attorney Award serves as a capstone to his decades of work, but it is also a reminder that his mission is far from over. Whether mentoring young lawyers, expanding scholarship opportunities, or continuing to fight for justice in the courtroom, Glenn Armentor remains dedicated to the values that have guided him since childhood: integrity, perseverance, and compassion.
Looking Ahead
For Louisiana’s legal community, Armentor’s recognition is a celebration of what the profession can and should be. For the broader community, it is a reminder that where you start does not define where you can go — and that with hard work and a commitment to service, lives can be transformed.
As Glenn Armentor accepts this honor, he does so not only as a Distinguished Attorney but as a living example of resilience and generosity in action. His journey continues to inspire, reminding us all to give back, lift others, and never lose sight of where we came from.
